I used to worry that my ideas were finite. They aren't. Sure, sometimes things are much better than others, but the bag of tricks is still quite full.

They used to tell us, at Halloween, don't eat homemade treats. They contain pins and razor blades. I'd like to think that the evil old women who made those treats weren't really evil. In my head, they were hoping that there were robot children in the neighborhood and they wanted something special just for them. They just didn't know which kids were robots. The metal ingredients were their way of knowing for sure.

I hate these signs. They were everywhere. That night, no one wanted us near them. We were kept at arm's length. These signs speak to a need for specialness in a world full of grime. A need to stand up and shout, this table in a bar in a small town that means nothing is all mine. Go ahead, hold onto your cardboard signs. It's all you got.

There's nothing quite like the feeling of puppy under covers lying next to you or snuggled up under your head. The sounds that she makes when she dreams are some of the best sounds in the world. I wonder what she is dreaming about. My guess is, she's dreaming of snuggling next to you and how happy she is.

There have been plenty of great movies made about my life. I've starred in them. Now, I've never seen them played at a theater. But I am sure they exist. I remember shooting them, I remember watching them. I don't really remember the incidents they were based on, because the only way I could survive said incidents was to pretend they were a movie. If you see one of the posters for them or a commercial on TV, let me know.

I like watching the city before it wakes up. Once it arises, I don't like it any more. I feel that the special time has ended. That my period of sleepless wonder of blinking lights and soft color has given way to sunlight and traffic. I liked the light coming through the window all night, keeping the room illuminated. I liked looking out into the city at night and feeling some sense of hope and wonder.

It's time I learned that self-destruction is pointless. If I want to find the if, then, whats, I need to look in myself for them. Just because things change doesn't mean that art has to die. I used to have a cat outside, but I think it is too cold for her now. It's freezing here. All I see when I look out is snow. I like Ellwood CIty snow the best, because it doesn't get the dirty black soot and smog in it. It stays a little more pure.
