The duck wasn't really wondering where everyone else was. He was just happy for some silence. Quack quack, that gets old. He wishes his voice was different so his interior monologue did not sound like the noises he feels some enmity for. Quack quack quack. Easy for you to say, he thought. But it always sounded like, quack quack.
